About Me
Hi name is Leah Durkin! I am a junior draw specialist at Sacred Heart University. This past 2022-2023 season my team and I won NEC Conference title going undefeated. In the post season we also qualified and played in the NCAA D1 women's lacrosse championship tournament against UNC. At SHU I am studying Biology with a minor in business with hopes to go to medical school when I graduate. I grew up in Dracut, MA with my brother, sister, and two dogs. Growing up being apart of a big family, I have always loved being outdoors and go on new adventures with my loved ones. Some of my favorite hobbies include: drawing, running, painting, reading, walking my dogs, watching movies, playing video games, and cooking. I have had experience in various jobs such as catering, cooking, coaching club lacrosse, and doing private lessons. When I am not at work, school, or lacrosse I love to give back to my community. For example, when I return home for the summer I volunteer coach for my old Highschool team. While coaching the Highschool team I noticed a significant decline in the number of Highschool players since the Covid-19 pandemic. To counteract this and provide Highschool students the same opportunities I had to get recruited and receive a higher education, I organized a summer league to keep returning players active and gain interest in sports from potential new players. Me and my team also give back to the community around SHU by partnering with amazing programs such as: Team Impact, Kevin's Afterglow, and Kendra's Kindness!
