Born on 19 September 1990, Egyptian tennis player Mohamed Safwat is the country’s No. 1. He has been part of the Davis Cup team since 2009 and made history as the first Egyptian man to qualify for the Olympics in 2021 after winning the 2019 African Games. Safwat has won one singles and three doubles titles on the ATP Challenger Tour, and was the first Egyptian to play in a Grand Slam main draw in 22 years.
