Born on 5 May 1996, Mayar Sherif Ahmed Abdel-Aziz is a groundbreaking Egyptian tennis player. She has reached career-high WTA rankings of No. 31 in singles, making her the highest-ranked Egyptian player in the Open Era, and No. 88 in doubles. Sherif has won one singles title on the WTA Tour and has a record six WTA 125 singles titles. She made history as the first Egyptian female player to compete in a Grand Slam main draw at the 2020 French Open and became the first Egyptian woman to win a Grand Slam match at the 2021 Australian Open. Sherif has also made a significant impact representing Egypt in the Billie Jean King Cup with a 25–13 record.
