Born on 29 January 2004, Kenyan tennis player Angella Okutoyi made history by becoming the first Kenyan to win a Grand Slam title, claiming the girls’ junior Wimbledon title. In the 2023 African Games, she won gold in singles, defeating Lamis Alhussein Abdel Aziz and upsetting world No. 70 Mayar Sherif in the process. She also won silver in doubles with Cynthia Cheruto Wanjala. Okutoyi has earned two singles and five doubles titles on the ITF Circuit, representing Kenya in the Billie Jean King Cup.
